Laborers' Local 483 Members,
I am writing to inform you that on the recommendation of LiUNA Vice President and NW Regional Manager Bob Abbott, the Executive Board of Local 483 has voted to postpone elections for the Local 483 Executive Board and Business Manager position until July of 2020.
This decision was made to ensure that members are able to safely participate in the nomination and election process. Under current social distancing orders, nomination meetings and the elections process would increase members' risk for COVID-19 exposure and possible infection.
Local 483 is not alone in this postponement. All LiUNA Locals in the NW Region will be postponing their elections. Please note the possibility that elections could be postponed again if social distancing orders continue.
Under the new schedule, the nomination meeting is set for June 29, 2020 and the election for July 30, 2020.
A fair and timely election process is extremely important to a democratically run local. We take this process seriously and will be in contact with more information closer to the new election dates. A letter with this same information has been mailed to the address we have on file. Please contact the Local 483 office to update your address if you do not receive it within the next few days.
If you have questions or concerns about this change, I can be reached at farrell@liuna483.org.
